Disk Space

Disk space is the amount of server storage space available for a given hosting package. Your website and its files, images, videos, database and email accounts all count towards your disk space quota.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth is the amount of data which can be uploaded or downloaded. In order for a visitor to your website to view your web pages they must download the webpage to their computer to display in their browser software such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox etc. Sending and receiving email also contributes to bandwidth data usage as does the uploading of files to your website.

FTP Accounts

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a transfer protocol which easily allows you to upload or download files between your computer and your hosting account.

Addon Domains

Addon domains allow you to add extra stand alone domain names to your hosting account. Your addon domain will be hosted under the main account and should be registered and have the nameservers pointed correctly.

Sub Domains

Sub Domains or "Third-Level Domains" use your existing domain name to create a sub account without the cost of a new domain name. Sub domains point to their own folder under your main account. For example your domain is "mygreatdomain.com" and you create a sub domain called "fishing". Once it's set up the address would be fishing.mygreatdomain.com which would go to a different area or sub section of your site.

Parked Domains

A parked domain allows you to point other domain names to your existing domain. For instance if you owned and hosted the domain name "firstclasshotdogs" and you then decide to secure the domain "1stclasshotdogs" you could park it on the main account and when 1stclasshotdogs is visited it will display the same pages as firstclasshotdogs.com.

DNS Management

Advanced users can use DNS management to change A records, MX records and CNAME.

Redirects

Allow you to make a specific web page redirect to another page and display the contents of that page.

Email Accounts

These are the email accounts that you can set up @yourdomain.com. POP3|IMAP|SMTP available. Post Office Protocol or POP3 is the most commonly used email protocol. You can configure your mail client such as Outlook or Outlook Express on your computer to download your email from your POP3 mailbox on the server.

IMAP

IMAP (Internet message access protocol) basically stores your email including inbox, sent items etc on the server. This allows you to access your email from multiple access point’s such as your computer, smartphone, tablet or other device.

Webmail

Webmail allows you to access your email from any computer that has an internet connection and a web browser.

Spam Assassin

Spam Assassin is as the name implies an automated email filtering system for reducing spam by identifying spam messages from the content of the emails headers and body.

Forwarders

Email forwarders allow you to send a copy of all email sent to one address on to another. For instance you have an email sales@mydomain.com, you could forward all email to sales@mydomain.com to your personal email account me@gmail.com which you check more often.

Auto Responders

Auto responders can be used to send an automatic reply to anyone who sends you an email. A common example is when you are out of the office for an extended time you can set up an auto responder to advice when you will be back!

Authentication

Email Authentication provides an advanced tool for preventing spam. You can manage SPF (Sender Policy Framework) settings to specify servers and IP addresses that can send emails from your domain.

Password Protection

You can protect or restrict access to specific folders or directories under account by requiring a username and password for access.

Hotlink Protection

Hotlink protection stops other websites from directly linking to your files such as images.

IP Deny

This handy security tool allows you to block a range of IP addresses to prevent them from accessing your site.

Shared SSL

Shared SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates are generally free and shared by users on the same server. Shared SSL's don't require you to obtain a dedicated IP.

Dedicated SSL

Dedicated or private SSL certificates are the professional alternative to shared SSL's. Protect transactions and customer details with the peace of mind that an SSL Certificate offers.

Dedicated IP

A dedicated IP address is unique to one website. Dedicated IP's are required when you purchase an SSL Certificate.

MYSQL

MySQL Databases are required by many content management systems such as Wordpress and Drupal. MySQL is used for database and table creation and management.

Database

A database stores data.

phpMyAdmin is a free open source PHP tool to manage the administration MySQL over the internet.
