Domain Name Validation - New ICANN Procedure

Validate Your Domain Name by Email

The governing body of all domain names, ICANN, has introduced a new validation process as a way of ensuring data quality on all gTLD's. If you have registered a gTLD (e.g. .com, .net .org, etc) you will be sent an email asking you to validate your registrant contact details of First name, Last name and Email address. Please follow the instructions in this email. Failing to receive an affirmative response from the registrant within 15 days will result in the suspension of the name.

The title of the email will be "Please validate your domain name(s) as soon as possible".

The first of these new procedures, is registrants of gTLD's (generic top level domain) will have to validate their details, this is effective immediately.

Validation Emails

We have added some FAQ's to our Support pages; you can find these here under General Domain Name Questions.

The main points regarding these notifications are;
  • Registrant first name, last name and email address will need to be validated
  • Registrants will have 15 days to approve the details, failure to respond will result in the domain being suspended, meaning all services will be offline
  • This validation process only applies to gTLD's
  • These emails are only sent when;
    • a new domain is registered to new details i.e. new first name, last name and email address
    • a change to the whois is made on an existing gTLD
    • a gTLD is transferred into Vendhost
    • the Whois Data Reminder Policy notification bounces
